Elizabeth Sheffield, b. 1775 married about 1792 James Morgan (1778-1838). They had three known sons Martin (1796-1847), Mark (1800-1858), and James (1805-1975). They came to Wilcox County, AL. When James Morgan died Elizabeth remarried to James Gideon.
Elizabeth's father was Isam Sheffield (1756-1842). Mother was unknown. When Isam died his will noted that "I cancel my loan of $50 to James Giden who married my deceased daughter Eliza Morgan, widow of the late James Morgan."--From Orphans Court Records in Wilcox Co., AL, P. 268.
I do not have records, but Isam was born in NC (from census records) and I believe his parents to be John Sheffield Sr (1727-1796) and Hannah Melton (1730-1796) of Moore County, NC. I know that John Sheffield Sr has a son in his will, spelled Isham. The Moore Co, NC family of my Sheffield and Morgan families are confusing with so many of the same names used.
