Thank you for the information. On your D.N.A. project, my daughter, Mary Elizabeth Givens, who now lives in Atlanta, has a really good friend, a Jennifer Sheffield, from Jacksonville, FL., whose husband's family came from south Georgia. If you are interested, I can send you the info on him for your project, or I can mail them your information. I will have to tell you, I believe(not proven) that Flora Sheffield's Akins husband was a Samuel Akin, and his father was a William Akin, a R.W. soldier, emigrated from Antrium, Ireland through PA, and served in the Revolutionary War in SC, was awarded lands in Wayne Co. GA (which covered much of that part of that state at that time). I still would like to prove West Sheffield's Revolutionary War service. Any help would be appreciated. There is a genealogist in Jacksonville, FL who wants to write a book on people buried in Old Gravelly Hills Cemetery in Jacksonville(he is president of the Southern Genealogy Society in Jacksonville ). Mary Elizabeth Akins Newsom is buried there(my great grandmother). All records were destroyed in the Jacksonville Great Fire. Mary Elizabeth Akins was the daughter of Sherrod Sheffield Akins and Elizabeth Kemp, and the grandaughter of Flora Sheffield and a William or Samuel Akin.
