Linda,
I can't add to the descendants of Isabella Sheetz, but I can give you a little more on Zebulon.I would be interested in knowing more about the descendants of Zebulon Sheetz so I can fill out the Sheetz family history. He was married first to Isabella Cram and it appears that your Isabella was most likely named after her. That was a common practice in those days.
Here is something I posted the other night re: Austin C. Sheetz, the oldest son of Zebulon, on a Rootsweb board:
_____________________________________________________
The parents of Austin C. Sheetz were Zebulon Sheetz and Isabella Cram of Hampshire Co., VA. Isabella was Zebulon's first wife; he was married second to Margaret Patterson in Hampshire Co. In the mid-1830's Zebulon brought his family to White Co., IN; he is buried in Monticello, White Co., IN, in the Sheetz family cemetery, which is in a wooded area on a bluff overlooking the Tippecanoe River. I have visited this cemetery and have photos of it. ZEBULON SHEETZ was the brother of my ancestor, FREDERICK SHEETZ. They were the sons of HENRY SHEETZ and ANNA BARBARA WOLTZ.
I visited the White County Historical Society and made some photocopies of letters I found in the Sheetz family file. These letters were written by Jonathan Edwards, a great-grandson of Zebulon Sheetz, in 1936. Here is an excerpt from one of the letters:
"Further, do you know of the resolution adopted by the Bloomery church session (in Hampshire Co. VA) when Zebulon Sheetz and his family moved to Monticello (White Co. IN)? Here it is, and a bit of previous history with it."
"Zebulon Sheetz, born in Virginia, in 1799, lived first on the Patterson's Creek. In July 1825 a petition for the organization of the Bloomery Mills Presbyterian Church was signed by him, his wife Margaret, and mother Ann B. Sheetz and others. On November 9, 1825, he was ordained an elder at the new church, and became the first Clerk of the Session. July 28, 1827, the Session met in his home in Bethel Valley. August 1835, his wife, mother, and son, Austin Cram were given letters "to any Presbyterian church in the West," and on August 30, the Session adopted this resolution, 'Whereas Zebulon Sheetz, an elder in this church, is about removing to the West, Session takes this method of expressing their warm attachment to him as a Christian brother, and their sense of his usefulness as a fellow officer in the Church of Christ, their regret at his loss, and their prayerful desire for his future peace and proseperity.'"
Letter continues:
"Zebulon Sheetz was 66 or 67 years of age when he died. He was twice married; first to Isabella Cram, on of the Scotch Convenanters. She is buried in the Greenwall Cemetery, on Patterson Creek, about eight miles northeast of Burlington, West Virginia, two and a half miles from Headsville. He was married next to Margaret Patterson, daugther of James Patterson of Belfast and Jane Brown, also of Scotland."
Will be happy to share what I have on the Sheetz family. Would love to hear more about the descendants of Zebulon Sheetz.
