Decatur County Journal-Iowa November 30, 1899 Died, at Vermillion in South Dakota on the 13th day of Nov. 1899, after a brief illness. JOSEPH SHEELEY aged 89 years and 10 months. The subject of this sketch was born in Germany on the 13th day of January, 1810. Came to America in 1828, was joined in marriage to MISS. CATHARINE BUSEY in Ohio, to them were born 10 children, of whom three sons and three daughters are living. He moved to Iowa and settled near Van Wert in 1854. The wife died many years ago, and in 1833 he went to South Dakota and made his home with his children, where he died as above stated. The remains were brought to Van Wert and after funeral services, conducted by Rev. Jas. Blair and the writer, was laid to rest in the Van Wert Cemetery beside his wife. BRO SHEELEY was well known to the writer; he was a memeber of the U.B. Church for about a half a century and a very exemplary man. His last words were: "All is well."
