History Of Sheaves family in Newfoundland
Apparently according to a piece found in an old newspaper "The Optimist , March 7, 1966)
The Sheaves landed in Newfoundland aboard a sailing vessel out of England in September 1789, two brothers came ashore in a little bay called "Sheaves Cove" where there is an inscription on a rock which gives proof, their names were John and William Sheaves. They spent that year in Channel( 2white men surrounded by Indians), John married and had a son named John, who grew up and maried anIrish girl "Mary Dennis", they had a family of 16 of which there was a son named Thomas who married a girl named Eliza Scott later they moved to BC. I figure my roots branch from the other original brother "William" of which I have no information, my own GG Grandfather who was born August 10 1848. Any information you may have linking these respective peoples will be appreciated.
