I have been researching my Shere surname for about 6 years now and have made contact with distant cousins in Devon, England. I believe that most spelling variations of that surname are related. I have found numerous spelling variations fo the same family (Shere) that have changed back and forth over the years. This has made it very difficult to trace family lines. I found that the Shere (and numerous other spellings) have been in Devon for at least 800 years.
