I believe that we may be related.
JAmes Shearer married Rebecca Rupert d/o Sarah Catherine Bright and Leonard Rupert of Rupert, near Bloomsburg -Columbia County, PA.
My ancestor is their son Leonard Rupert Shearer.I believe that his first wife was named Sophia and their children are Michael and Mary Alice.Sophia died when MAry Alice was ~ 4 years old ---1850.
Leonard farmed the children out.Michael lived with Sarah Seiler and Jacob Wagner (Waggoner) but I never have found where Mary Alice was.
Leonard moved to Pottsville and worked as a bricklayer.LAter married Elizabeth and had more children.
MAry Alice married Augustus Rink Seiler
Harry Shearer Seiler m. Margaret Jane Boyd ---they lived
in Philadelphia
Florence Boyd Seiler m. CLarence Moburn Hill -- lived in
Pittsburgh
Evelyn Lenore Hill m. Roger Welsby Dixon
Then me.
I have information on the Rupert, Bright (Brecht), Rousch line.Catherine Rousch m. John Philip Rupert whose son Leonard married Sally Bright.
Much of the family came from Reading, Berks County.
The Brecht family is from Schriesheim, Hesse. The Rupert family is from an area called now Franconia.
Leonard Rupert had a sister named Elizabeth and I know that he had a brother Hiram. There were also other siblings but I don't know there names.
I would love to exchange information.I do have pictures of Mary Alice and her husband.Leonard Rupert was a State Representative in 1820s.
Good to hear from you
Lenore
