My gggrandfather was Simon Sheahon b@1808 in Ireland. Family legend has his birthplace as Cork. In 1880 I found him on the Illinois census in Winnebago Co., Il.
He married Elizabeth (Edwards?) in Ireland. She was born 8 May 1830, again in Cork. I'm not sure when they immigrated to the US, but my ggrandfather, Maurice, was born in Rockford, Winnebago Co, Il, 10 May 1859.
Sound familiar to anyone?
