Shaver in Western New York
Ther was have a fairly large group of the Shaver clan in this area. The earliest one that I know of is Peter Shaver. I do not know his birth date, but but it was some time before 1819. Other family members that I do have a little information on are:
Atla (Alta)
Bertha L.
Burton
Charles P.
Clara M.
Clare J.
Dale
Deborah
Electa
Ethel R.
Freeman
George
Harry C.
Harry E.
Hosea
Jonah
Lorenzo
Martha
Martin
Parson
Pearl Edith (My Grandmother)
Peter
Ruth
Scott
Steven
Viola
Walter
All of these originated or once lived near here. Many are buried in a tiny cemetary in East Wayland, Steuben County, New York.
East Wayland does not appear on any modern map, but it is about 5 miles south of the current Village of Wayland, which is in the northwest corner of Steuben County. This area was once heavily populated with immigrants from southern Germany and northern Switzerland. Many of the old family names can still be forund in the phone books of the area.
If any one either desires further information on these names or can provide any connections to this group, I will be glad to correspond.
