Like Wayne Shaver, I have often (unsuccessfully) tried to find the origins of my Shaver Family.I assumed they were Germany and somewhere along the line, the name was changed from Schaeffer or a variation thereof. Can you link me to a David Shaver who shows up in the 1790 DE Census, Kent Co., Murderkill One Hundred. He was married to Nancy ?.David died 28 Aug 1818.His son Thomas, b. 23 Jul 1793 in Kent Co. DE married Susan Clark, dau. of Abraham Clark, on 11 Aug 1813.They left Delaware after that and were some of the first to settle in Gallia Co. OH. and are both buried there.Thomas died 12 Jan 1883, Nancy on 11 Aug 1874.Their son, Eli, b. 4 Mar 1833, moved with wife (Diantha Hampton) & family to Maysville, DeKalb Co. MO after marrying Diantha on 1 Mar 1855 in Miegs Co. OH.Their son, Orlando Shaver had son Eli (my grandfather). His daughter, Irene, was my mother.Any help in linking these Shavers to their place of origin and who David's parents were would be greatly appreciated.
