Hi Paul
Our Shavers were in the Mohawk Valley, Montgomery County when the Revolution got under way. Philip Shaver and Elizabeth Angst remained loyal and indeed Philip and his oldest sons joined on the side of the Brits! The family was stripped of their farm in the lawlessness that prevailed and they made their way to Lake Champlain where they walked the shore (Winter) to Montreal Quebec area.
Philip's grant was in Matilda Tp., Dundas County. His older sons were UELs in their own right.
His second youngest son was Henry born ~ 1774 in the Montgomery area died prior to 1850.... He is a Gx3 GF of mine. He petitioned for his claim with his younger bro Peter in 1797. We are not sure where his land grant was!
