Rick,
Do you have your birth certificate? If so, does it list your father's name and place or state of birth? If not, have you considered ordering a copy for the vital data pertaining to your dad?
Have you attempted to call the clerk of the circuit court in Mesa, Arizona to see if perhaps you can locate a copy of your parent's marriage license in order to obtain a copy?
You may also get lucky by contacting the following organization who may be able to locate records for you:
The Mesa Family History Center at 41 South Hobson in Mesa, Arizona. Their telephone number is 480-964-1200.
If you knew what years your dad was in the service (or his Social Security Number) you can order his military records at no cost, they are free to next of kin.
