John - Sorry for the delay in answering. I don't do much original research anymore, but I am still interested - especially in SHAUT and WEEKS histories. I don't have a great deal of info on Theodorus SHAUT, and I suspect you may have most of that! I did once try to sort out the early SHAUTs of the Mohawk Valley area, and hope I didn't just mess things up more! Anyway, I have: 1 - Both an abstract (from Penrose's "Early Mohawk Valley Families" and a photocopy of Theodorus' original will (written 9 Dec 1809, probated 10 May 1805 - so obviously he died between those dates; it was recorded in 1806). 2 - pg. 57 and 59 (citing Laws, ch.1154 and 1989) from "Denizens, Naturalizations and Oaths of Allegiance in Colonial NY" (1975) 3 a Canajoharie tax list from "Upstate New York in the 1760s" 4 - 1790 Canajoharie census lists "Dorus SHORT" 5 - from an online House ancestry" in 1788, "Teoris Shad" paid taxes on land in Waggoner Patent July 1799, Joseph C. House and wife Elizabeth, Theodorus Shaut and wife Maria, were co-owners of part of Lot 12 in Lansing Patent (Montgomery co) That's about it! Certainly wish we could learn more! Even Henry Jones didn't learn anything, with all his searching. Is there any evidence that Theodorus' wife was Mary HEPPLE? At least one RootsWeb site had this! By the way - Mary (FORT) SHAUT, widow of Jacob, was still living in Steuben co (Wheeler twp) - age 91, in 1870, residing with her son-in-law Abram P HOUSE and his wife Elizabeth (SHAUT) HOUSE. I missed this one before! So Jacob died after the 1860 census, Mary after the 1870 census - both in Steuben co, where so many of their children settled. Notify Administrator about this message?
