I am researching a John S. Shawl and son, Melvin Charles Shawl, both from Constantine Twp, St. Joseph County, Michigan. They both served in the Michigan 12th infantry. Their names were spelled SHAUL in the military records, but SHAWL elsewhere. In Silvercreek Twp, Cass County, Michigan, (only a few miles from Constantine) I have found a Madison Shaul, Alexander Shaul and others. Could they be related? or just coincidence? We show record of Charles Melvin being born in Fremont Ohio. John Shaul (Shawl) would be about 2 yrs older than Madison. Please email me if you have any connection or believe there could be a connection. kjamm@voyager.net
