Thomas J. Sharples (m. 1944) - Blackburn to Canada
Posted by: Lynda MacKenzie (ID *****8343) Date: April 15, 2002 at 04:00:00

Hi

I am trying to trace the family of my maternal grandfather. I understand that his name is Thomas Joseph Sharples and that he was born in Blackburn, Lancashire. He got married in 1944 to Hannah McAlister (Bunty) on the Isle of Arran, Scotland (later divorced). He had a brother called Brian (possibly) and maybe other siblings that I am unaware of. He was a commando and later parachuter in the 2nd World War and emigrated to Canada sometime after his marriage to Bunty. They had 2 children, Katherine and Jean. I believe that he first went to Windsor in Canada and that he may have then moved on to Winnipeg.

Any help at all will be gratefully recieved.
