Does anyone have any information on siblings of Francis Sharp or Spires who submitted the following War of 1812 pension application which was rejected for a Francis Sharp alias Spires or Spyers, on 24 July 1872, fromBeaver Pond, Lexington County, South Carolina.He enlisted at Daniel Walker'sCross Road, South Carolina.The reason was insufficient service - 28 days versus 30 days of service. Francis served as a private in Captain John Quattlebaum's Company, South Carolina Militia from 30 September to 27 October 1814, and states he is not married.Francis said he received a land warrant, but couldn't remember the number.His witnesses were: John H. Spires; and Reuben Sharp, Senior.Mary Y. Harth, Postmaster at Lexington Court House, stated Francis was an honorable man known to her and she swore to the truth of his statements; and Michael Wise, who served with Francis.Mr. R. Harman, Lawyer, wrote to explain that Francis enrolled as Spires, his father's name being Spires and his mother's name was Sharp.He was a substitute for his father - whose surname was Spires and he, Francis Spires, was illegitimate (he was called F. Sharp).
