Hi there,
I am researching my family tree and history of de Vere/Weir. My gggrandfather,William Ormsby Weir married Sara Ruxton (both families living in Dublin,Ireland late 1800's early 1900's) William worked,at one time,in the Coombe Hospital,Dublin. He made a sudden departure from the hospital, it is believed around the time of his marriage. There was a bit of controversy at their marriage as William was a Protestant and Sara a Catholic. Their son John Weir, raised a Catholic, added to the family turmoil. John married another Sarah Ruxton. One family story has it that Wiilliam and his wife Sara, John and his wife Sarah, were all somehow related. William or John, it is said asked for a dispensation from the Pope to marry. Receiving it, they left for Boston to marry. They subsequently returned to Ireland. I tend to believe that this was the case for William.
I am getting nowhere with the Ruxton family. Any help now would be greatly appreciated.
