I just happened to come across these posts again and noticed there was a few more added after I stopped looking. You story about your dad's grandfather being mayor is the same story my grandmother Lucille Sharron told me repeatedly about HER grandfather. So there IS a connection there. ALSO I recall my grandmother saying the grandfather was involved in ownership of the Sharron department stores, which she compared to Macy's. I thought she said they were in Canada but I can't be sure. Grandmother Lucille always mentioned something about the Sharron name migrating in at plymouth rock. She always stated her background was not Canadian like her husbands, but european french with a small bit of Irish.
