Sharon Family Genealogy Forum
Edward did have a son named Joseph. I am now looking for proof that Edward was in the PA area prior to his arrivalo in Morgan Co., WV around 1840. Ed had a very close friend, Timothy Norton who was his age and he also came from Ireland to a NY port. Timothy's family has found in his old paperwork that he worked in steel in PA. I have a feeling that Ed and Timothy may have met on the way to America. Ed worked on a cattle boat, so his gr-grandaughter was told by her grandfather, Joseph Sharon. The Irish Heraldry Association in Dublin tells me the spelling S-H-A-R-O-N is not Irish. My Edward could not read/write, so I find his name only as it is written by others. NIA suggested several ways the name could have been originally: Sheerin - Shearen, etc.
