My wife's great grandmother was Susan Ann Sharland who married William John Aplin in Halse, Somerset, 1876.
Her father was William Sharland, a labourer who married Mary Davey in 1842 in Milverton, Somerset.
They had three girls on the 1851 census of Halse, Elizabeth
Emma, and Susan. Mary died and William married again to sarah Clarke. They had six children, William, John, Mary ann, Elizabeth, Sarah and Jane.
Williams father was John Sharland from Ashbrittle.
On the Campbells index of parish registers in Taunton Record Office, Somerset, there are loads of Sharlands. Where do yours originate from?
All the best
