I have recently been helping my aunt from Canada research her father's family history. Her maiden name / Father's name being Quirt. However it seems that the original name of her ancestors was Quart. We have traced that name to a Henry Quart married to Jane Leslie who came over from Ireland - doesn't say which area - Some of his family were born in Ireland but some were born in Canada - Ontario area. Must have come over around 1815. It is known in the family tree that some of the family moved to NY and my Aunts own grandfather and grandmother moved to California and are buried there. Unfortunately records of ships passenger lists did not have to be kept prior to 1865 so can't find them on the ships passenger lists. Don't know if this helps. Good luck Joy Murdoch
