Timothy J. Shannon (1960-2010) Chicago and California
Timothy J. Shannon formerly of Elk Grove Village Services for Timothy J. Shannon, 49, of San Jose, Calif. for 27 years, will begin with visitation from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 17, at Grove Memorial Chapel, 1199 S. Arlington Heights Road (three blocks south of Biesterfield Road), Elk Grove Village, and proceed to Queen of the Rosary Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Interment will be private in St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery, Palatine. Born Aug. 6, 1960, in Elk Grove Village, he died Tuesday, April 6, 2010, at home. His teaching career of 25 years at Fremont High School in Sunnyvale, Calif. had a profound effect on many students, and his dedication to putting others above self, a profound effect in the world. Tim had a joy for life that touched everyone he came to know. He loved music, theatre, reading and travel. He was a 1978 graduate of Elk Grove High School and a graduate of Beloit College. Tim was the loving father of Gregory Shannon and Andrew Lovell of San Jose, Calif.; beloved son of William E. and Joan M. Shannon (nee McWayne) of Elk Grove Village; and the dear brother of Sheila (Jeff) Starr of Elk Grove Village, Steve Shannon and Kevin Wallace of Brockton, Mass. and Laurie (Andy) Tichvon of Kalamazoo, Mich. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Memorial contributions to the Timothy J. Shannon Memorial Theatre Scholarship, appreciated.
