I am looking to establish the parentage of John E. Shannon of Lambertville, New Jersey, USA. Unfortunately, neither his death certificate nor his obit name them.
John was born on Feb. 12, 1857 in NJ as per his death cert.
There are two John Shannons in Lambertville about his age in 1870. I cannot distinguish between them. One is a doctor's servant, and the other is living with the same woman he lived with in 1860, but everyone in the household has different last names and there is a child the same age as him who has the same last name as the female head, so she doesn't appear to be his remarried mother.
John may also have been from somewhere else in New Jersey, but I have no other clues.
He married Mary A. 'Mamie' Dever on Sep. 3, 1876 at St. John's Roman Catholic Church in Lambertville. He died on Apr. 26, 1908 in Jersey City, Hudson Co., NJ and was buried in St. John's Cemetery, Lambertville.
He lived in Lambertville during his early adulthood. Later in life John lived in Philadelphia and then Jersey City.
He was an electrician for the railroads. He died on the job after his legs were severed by a drill engine.
