F. P. SHANER was b. Jan. 1859, Freedom, Venango Co., PA, s/o Matthias & Margaret J. [STEWART] SHANER. They moved to Clarion Co., PA, ca. 1874. Matthias & Margaret had eight ch.

F. P. studied at the academy in Rimersburg and W. Freedom. He taught school for four years and then became a book-keeper for Boot & Keating at Port Allegany. He m. 12 Je. 1889, Jennie F. SIMAR, and moved to Olean, NY, as superintendent of Boot & Keating's Tannery.

William SIMAR died at his residence in Port Allegany Tuesday morning from a stroke of paralysis. He was born in Bradford Co., 25 Nov. 1818, and was nearly 73 at death. On 21 July 1847, he m. Harriet BELLOWS (1830, Potter Co. PA - 8 May 1884). They had ten children, five of whom dy. Surviving were F. D., Smethport; Bryce {Byron?} & Emma, Port Allegany; Martin, Annin Twp.; & Mrs. F. P. SHANER, of Olean.
