Your Ira appears to have been born a bit later. The database for the 1930 Census, Cerro Gordo Co., IA, has Ire {sic} L. SHANER, b. ca. 1875; Ida J., 1880; Harry S., 1912; Henrieta F., 1914; Louis I., 1918. Others in Cerro Gordo Co. were Ione, 1908; C. Howard, 1899; & Alice L., 1907. The actual census would have more details, but I don't have that. Ida J. SHANER (7 Mar. 1880 - 15 Apr. 1966) last residence Mason City, Cerro Gordo, IA. Harry S. SHANER (2 Aug. 1911 - 5 Dec. 1991) lr. Mason City. Louis I. SHANER (21 Nov. 1917 - 22 Dec. 1989) SSN issued IA, lr. not specified Clyde SHANER (12 Jan. 1899 - July 1966, lr. Mason City Alice L. SHANER (20 S 1906 - 7 Aug. 1991) SSN iss. IA, lr. ns [--all online, SSDI]. Perhaps you can find obituaries. The information on Mathias SHANER is similar to what I've found except that I've never seen a Berks Co. location for him. I think the first Mathias arrived ca. 1753 with the French army that built the string of forts from Ft. LeBoeff (Erie) to what became Pittsburgh. I've also seen the wife of Mathias as Sophronia POE, but it's hard to fit her into the time frame of the Mathias whose estate was mentioned in Columbiana Co., OH, on a bond of 14 Apr. 1828, for Peter RISINGER, administrator; Benj. TODD & Nicholas YOUNG, sureties. I checked, and that's all they can find in Columbiana Co. pertaining to the estate. Notify Administrator about this message?
