What a delight to hear from one of my Shane's! Thank you for your up-date of your line! I have always wondered about the rest of Ray and Harvey's family. I knew Ray very well. He liked kids and liked for my brother Bob and I to visit him. Ray had a stroke when he was fairly young limiting his getting about. Ray was a pall bearer for my grandfather, Mark Seburn. And I knew the Points' as well and Harvey and Golden Shane, parents of Jewel Shane md Ray Shane and Golden Points md Harvey Shane. My grandmother got to live at her home longer (age 93) in Aurora, MO because Ray's wife Jewel helped keep her medicine straight. I went almost every week to Aurora my grandmother's last two years. Ethel Beatrice (Davis) Seburn lived to be 93 years old and died in Tulsa, OK but is buried in Maple Park Cemetery, Aurora, MO. Grandma's house has been replaced by a new house. The rock house of Ray and Jewel was still there two years ago.

There is a book "Rose Bud Mine Disaster" that contains an account of Grant Shane (Ulysses Grant Shane)who survived in the lead-zinc mining disaster near Aurora that killed his brother and brother-in-law. The book was compiled by Harlan Stark, Island Park Books, in the Barry/Lawrence County Regional Library, that I found in the Aurora branch.

Do you know anything more about the earliest Shane's? I found an account of some Shane's (do a google for: Shane biography Morton's Berks County Pennsylvania History. So you know if these are our Shane's? There was a William Shane who had a daughter Esther Shane.
