Looking for information on the ancestors of my grandfather Richard Shanahan Page (1887-1952), son of Ellen Shanahan and Arthur Page. Ellen was born in Epping, Victoria, Australia around 1852 and died in 1892. Ellen married Arthur Page on 26 Dec 1873 in West Melbourne, Vic. Her parents were Michael Shanahan and Anne Ryan who were married in Victoria in 1850. Have had no luck in finding Ellen's birth certificate so we can't get any details on the origins of Michael or Anne or whether there were any other children. Also cannot locate any details on the deaths of Michael and Anne in Victoria. Also do not know when this line of Shanahans arrived in Australia. Ellen had the following known children – Michael & William (1875 twins), Edward (1879), Annie (1881), Mary Ellen (Sims 1883-1910), George & Catherine/Katie (1885 – twins – who were not listed on her death certificate), Richard (1887) and Bridget (died in infancy).
