SHAMBLIN / Jack Thomas / Seymour Tennessee

I have just recently come across what I believe to be a new family name. I recieved the death certificate of my GG Grandmother, Nellie E. Pitner nee, THOMAS. She died in 1918 and was born in 1848. On the death certificate, I must admit it is hard to decipher, it lists her father's name as JACK THOMAS and her mother as M***** SHAMBLIN. I believe this is the mother's last name from comparing other alphabet letters on the death certificate to that of the mother's last name.

The DC shows that both Nellie's parents were born in Seymour, Tennessee. Considering that Nellie was born 1848 I am assuming that her parent's were both born ca. 1820 to 1825.

Was wondering if anyone might have these people listed in their family names and if anyone could proivde information on the origins of the Shamblin name. I beleive I saw somewhere on this forum that the name is Scottish.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
