Do not have a "James" at this time.My earliest Shade was a George Shade b 1818, unknown place, but lived in Wilkin's Twp near PGH, a riverboatman. His son Cyrus b 1841 was my gggrandfather, lived in the East Liberty/Bloomfield area, an AVRR railroadman. My ggrandfather was George Francis b1868, lived in the Bloomfield area, a dentist. I have only census information on Cyrus' siblings: Theodore, (Cyrus), Jacob, Andrew, Sylvester,Rebecca, Jeremiah and Harriet. I do have a copy of a letter written to/from Eliza/Elizabeth at the time of the Civil War from Parkersburg,WV which suggests Shade family living there but have not been able to identify them.
What are the dates for your James the riverboatman and do you have any siblings or parents for him ?
Thanx,
Rebecca
