Shirley, Sorry I haven't answered sooner, I have been trying to find info on Thomas and Mary. At Ancestry.com "Alabama marriage collection,1800-1969,I find: James Bailey married Polly Ann Brown,12 Aug 1845, Calhoun Co AL. I have a copy of an old letter from Opal Shaddix Tisdale (no date), she is the daughter of William Robert Clark Shaddix who was the son of Clem Shaddix. Opal says in her letter "I know that my grandfather's(Clem)step mother was Mollie Brown, and that she had children when my grandfather married her". Were Polly Ann Brown Bailey and Mollie Brown the same person? If they were, she would NOT have been a "step-mother" to Clem. ALSO, on the 1870 Clay County (Flatrock) census,Page 34, where you find Thomas 56, Mary 43,Clem 11, you have to go to the next Page, 35,to find the other members of this family.Although the page says "Copper Mine" (not Flatrock) it is a continuation of page 34.You find James and Willis Shadix, Minerva,C.G.,E.S.,S.S.,J.T., and E.M.Bailey, all living together. It appears that E.M. Bailey could be the wife of J.T. Bailey. I still do not know who "Elizabeth" is on the 1860 Talladega Co census. Don't know who Thomas was married to before Polly. You asked if I had "John" as brother to Thomas and Alfred,I do and I find he and Lucinda in 1870 and 1880 Poplar Springs, Talladega AL census. In 1840 John and Isaac were living on adjoining farms on the southern County line of Clay and Tallapoosa Counties.Let me know if you find more about this family.
