I was doing a search for the name Hannah Carter - and was very interested in your post. I have been unsuccesfully trying to locate any information on a slave from either Fauquier or Loudoun county named Hannah Carter (the borders tended to shift) who was the mother of my g-grandfather Dennis Williams b. abt 1838 who looked white. I have never located the record of his birth - only marriages, and in his second marriage to my great grandmother the name of his mother is listed - no father.

Would be interested in locating the records of your Hannah -in hopes that she is also mine.
