Gov. John Seymour of Maryland (d. 1709)

John Seymour, Royal Governor of Maryland was baptized 18 September 1649 at Bitton, Glos. and died 30 July 1709 at Annapolis, MD. He was the son of Thomas Seymour of Bitton and Elizabeth Lyte of Lytescary, Somerset, daughter of the famed Royal genealogist, Thomas Lyte. The Bitton (and Frampton Cotterell) Seymours descend from John Seymour (depending on the source), bastard son of Edward Seymour the Lord Protector, or bastard brother of the Protector and Queen Jane.

Gov. Seymour was married twice (1) Margaret Bowles, daughter of Charles Bowles and Agnes Cole of Chatham, Kent and (2) Hester Newton of Barr's Court, Glos. There were four children, all from the first marriage: John, Robert, Berkeley and Jane. The last two never married, but the first two did and left descendants.

Am interested in trying to document known descendants of Gov. Seymour.
