Hello, thank you so much for posting this on the Seymour forum. In checking the l870 Hartford census, there was an Oliver and wife Harriet listed in Hartford who had two daughters, the eldest being Harriet, 23 and Ellen, 11. Oliver was a First Selectman and seemed by asset value to be rather well off as the family of a person sitting for a formal photograph might well have been. On checking the Seymour book, there was a Oliver DeWitt Seymour b. 31 Dec1820;m. at Hartford, 18 Oct. 1843, Harriet H. Marsh b. 2 Jan 1821, dau. of Guy C. and Lamira (Way). Their children were; Oliver D. b. July 1844, Hattie Hart, b. Jan. 1846 d. 9 May1886 m. Miles B. Preston and a third child, Helen L. b. Aug. 1859. I would bet that this is the correct family. If you don't mind my posting a reference to your original one on the Preston Genforum, it might get to the right family through that route.
