Sexsmith Family Genealogy Forum

Hi everyone. I have been going over old posts and I found mention of William G. Sexsmith as a possible brother to Joseph who married Jane. I don't disagree with this, but I thought I'd list the family William G. mentioned in his will dated 1851. He had at least 3 brothers - James, Matthew, and George. I believe his brother Matthew is the one that married Miss Grant. So, I know there is speculations that Matthew and Joseph and Simon are all brothers. This may be true, but we KNOW that Matthew and William G. were brothers, so maybe we have a LOT of brothers here? Someone reported that another Sexsmith/Anderson marriage took place. William G.'s brother, James, was married twice. I don't know the name of his first wife, but he did have two children with her who are mentioned in William's will. James' wife most likely died, and he married Anne McCormick. Also, there is no Brock Sexsmith. Someone contributed information to a centennial history of Dufferin Manitoba and said that Brock was the father of a bunch of Sexsmiths that came to Manitoba in the 1870's. The actual father of these people was William G. Sexsmith who married Mary W. Anderson. Let's expunge Brock from the history until we find another mention of him. As far as I know, that Dufferin history is the only place he's mentioned, and I know it's wrong. I'd love to hear from anyone with more evidence on Matthew Sexsmith and who his brothers were!
