Angie,
Samuel Sewall (the judge) was from a distinctly different line of Sewell/Sewalls. The confusion may have arisen from the 'fact' that the Joshua (b. 1755, MD, d. 1837, GA) Sewell's father was Samuel Sewell, Sr. (b. 1715, MD, d. 1789, NC). Thus, there is no direct link between the Samuel Sewell you're looking for and Samuel Sewall the judge of the Salem witch trial fame.
