I am assisting a friend who hopes to obtain membership in the Daughters of the Confederacy who descends from John Hoblett SEWARD, b. 1822 (married in 1855 Laura J. ROBERTS). According to family information John was the oldest son of Samuel (wife Mary)as found on the 1850 Washington Co TX Federal census.

We are hoping to determine if John served the Confederacy in the War Between the States, as is family tradition. John had a younger brother named Columbus D. SEWARD who is listed as an Aid to General Jeremiah B. Robinson.

My friend descends from John through his son Oscar A. Seward, Sr.

If you have information (other than the Federal censuses) about this family, we would like to hear from you. Especially if you can tell us where they may be buried and any military information/documentation on this family.

Thank you in advance for taking your time to help.

J. Spaulding
