Thanks for posting Carl's question. I have sent him an email with more things to ponder.
I'll stick to a reading of Julia's age of 22. Look at some of the other entries on the page, where a 2 makes sense and compare to Julia's, such as lines 4, 7, 8 or 34. My guess is that lines 38 and 39 are also 2s instead of 9s, which could be confirmed if Isaac and Nancy appear in the next census. Generally, the enumerator's 9s seem clearer. Look at the boldness of the downstrokes in the tally at the bottom of the page, in the 9 of 19 in the date at the top of the previous page and on lines 11 or 29 of the previous page. The downstrokes are either straight of actually curve the other way than do his 2s. IMHO.
