Eben, I truly appreciate the IL data on Burrills. I was especially pleased to learn than Martin Sewall was there and apparently even had his mother and stepfather with him in 1870. I am a novice genealogist w/o access to a lot of records, but I am in Corinna, ME, home of Burrills, so I will submit some of my interpretations. Samuel Burrill, Jr. did return to Corinna and m 2nd Clara Emerson Day. It is interesting that Martin Sewall removed to Minneapolis as that was the residence of Levi Stewart, millionaire philanthropist who grew up as a neighbor to the Burrills. Samuel Jr's parents owned the farm on which I reside, next to the Stewart's. Sam, Jr's bro, Sumner, m Sarah Jane Sewall sister to Martin's father, Rev Wm D Sewall. Apparently, Sumner and Sarah Jane followed bro Sam and Susan to IL. I am still looking for death/burial record of Sumner, but now assume that he is buried with SIL Susan. Being in ME, I have no inscripton of Susan's gravestone. Melville C. and Justin Sewall are buried with the Burrills here and their stones are separately inscribed "son of Rev Wm D and Susan Sewall". As to your concern about the differing counties of the Burrill families, I speculate that they were on the border of Marshall and LaSalle. I have a copy of a letter from SJ Burrill dateline New Rutland, 1867 and I am told that Susan Burrill is buried in Rutland. Corinna Questions? Notify Administrator about this message?
