Senator Ambrose Hundley Sevier is probably the man you refer to . He came to Little Roc, Arkansas in 1820-1821. He was a clerk of the House in the 2nd Arkansas legislature, admitted to the bar 1823 elected to house of Representatives in 1823, relected in 1825 elected speaker in 1827. He was elected as a Whig to the 20th US congressas a delegate to fill the term of his cousins Henry W. Conway. He served from 1828 thru 1836 when Arkansas was admitted to the Union. He was then elected as a Democrat to the USSenate and served until 1848. In 1848 he was appointed as minister to Mexico by President Polk. He was appointed in Marcha nd died of a fever in June 1848 caught in Mexico. His cousin James Sevier Conway went to Arkansas in 1820 and became the first Governor of Arkansas 1836-1840.
