Hi,

Based on all the information I have, the Joseph Moody of Industry Maine who married Hannah was probably not Hannah Moody, daughter of Ebenezer Severence.

First,
Ipswich VR (vol 1. p.330)
http://www.rootsweb.com/~maessex/VitalRecords/EssexCounty/Ipswich/Images/Births_330.gif
indicates tht Hannah Severance, d. of Ebenezer and Anna was baptized 24 Oct 1725.

Second,
Industry, Maine vital records (I have copy of the vitals for the entire Moody family) shows the birth date of Hannah Moody, wife of Samuel (b.18 Apr 1732) was born 15 April 1736. Vitals in Industry are from the written record and no room for transcription error.

So,
Either the birth or baptismal date of Hannah in Ipswich was transcribed incorrectly or Joseph Moody's wife Hannah was not Hannah Severance the dau. of Ebenezer of Ipswich, MA.

My concern is that even if the baptismal was a transcription error (off by ten years) then it still creates a problem as the birth date of Hannah was 1736 (11 years difference).

I, like Melissa, am hoping to get feedback on any real possibilities as to the descrepency in birth dates of the wife of Joseph Moody.

I can provide copies via email to have anyone scrutinize the discrepency.
