I may be a bit late in joining this discussion but I looked up your Joseph Bishop Severance (7) in "The Severance Genealogy by David C. Dewsnap reprinted by Heritage Books, Inc in 1995) Here is what he has to say:
#437) Joseph Bishop (7), (Joseph Levi 6, Jonathan 5, Benjamin 4, Jonathan 3, Ephraim 2, John 1), was born 6-9-1835 in Wolfboro, NH. (NHVR) He was also known as Bishop7 (MEVR-Lovell). THe (PRPCoME) show Joseph 7 born at Wolfboro, NH and died 8-14-1906 at Dover NH. His first wife Elizabeth J. (1870 MEFC) was born 4-8-1840 and died 11-26-1892, previous residence was Biddeford, ME. (1860-1870 Biddeford, MEFC) He married secondly to Bertha Credifordm daughter of Israel and Sarah Crediford, 1-20-1894 who was born in Sandwich, NH. (NHVR) Joseph 7 was 57 years old at his second marriage and this wife Bertha was 23 years old. Joseph Bishop 7 was later living in Biddeford Maine where his children were born.
The 1900 ME census shows Bertha's mother, Sarah B. Crediford was living with them as well as her sister, Elmina E. Crediford.
Joseph B. 7, died 8-14-1906 (CRME) in Dover NH the son of Joseph 6 Severance and Mary Moody of Tuftonboro, NH. His previous residence was Biddeford, ME. (NHVR)
The marriage of Bichop C 8 Severance to Gladys E. Plummer was in Dover NH. The bride was from Sandwich NH. THe parents of Bishop 8 were Joseph B. 7 and Bertha Crediford. Joseph 7 was born in Woldoboro, NH and aged 71 and Bertha was 44 years old.
Children:
i. Elizabeth8 b. 12-1-1894 m. at age 18 (NHVR) to Leland D. Stevens 10-9-1912 of Dover NH. Elizabeth was listed as the daughter of Joseph B. 7 deceased and Bertha (NHVR)
ii. Bishop Clayton 8, b. 9-10--1896 in Biddeford ME m. Gladys E. Plummer 1-15-1929 in N. Sandwich, NH. Gladys was from Sandwich, NH, the daughter of Hattie M. Plummer. They were later found in Dover NH. The NHVR shows a Marion A.9, Severance b. 3-8-1930 d. 3-15-1930, daughter of Clayton B.8 Severance and Gladys Plummer of Rochester NH. Bishop 8 was a lumber maker.
iii. Mildred (Frances) 8, b. 3-20-1898 m. Chester HArdy of Rochester, NH on 2-26-1914. He was the son of Demick Hardy and Lucinda Wentzell of Nova Scotia Canada. Mildred was the daughter of Joseph 7 Bishop Severancce and Berth Crediford (NHVR) ( it is possible that Mildred 8 was born in 1897. She was 17 at her marriage in 1914. (NHVR)
That is the lasst of the information about Josaeph Bishop 8 Severance.
It is interesting to note that Joseph's brother Levi Severance is listed as being born in Lovell Maine on 8-14-1837 (Lovell Maine VR) So the family must have moved to Lovell at some point between the births of those two sons.
