There has been an Update in the Samuel Moody who married Hannah Severance. He was Not in the Rev. War as he was born in 1732 and when the Rev. War broke out in 1775 he was in his 40's. Not that some elderly men didn't help out, as he did by being on the local town Alarm. However, for some reason the DAR Index has a huge Error in listing the Samuel Moody b. 1732 as a Rev. War soldier. He was not. I have a copy of the Only Samuel Moody listed in the Rev. War records from that area and he was Samuel Moody born 1758 in Brentwood, NH and perhaps of the Jonathan Moody line of Clement 1 Moody. Samuel states in his Pension Application that he was born in 1758 Brentwood, NH and that he lived in that place during his time of service. After his release he states that he moved to Shapleigh, York Co., ME, then to Wakefield, NH and then to Ossipee, NH. He finally settled in Solon, Somerset Co., Maine and stated at the time of his Pension Application in 1832 that he had lived in Solon, ME for the past 10 years. By 1832 the Samuel who married Hannah Severance had long been dead. It is noteworthy to mention that the War # [S18990] given from the DAR Index is the Same One given on Samuel Moody's Application from Solon, ME. Also the Samuel Moody b. 1758 married Catherine/Katherine QUIMBY. Samuel's possible brother Edward Moody moved to Corinna, Penobscot Co., Maine in the early 1800's not that far from Somerset Co. The info from the record of Samuel Moody of Solon, ME can be seen on the MOODY page where I posted it some time back. There has been recent chatter about it as well.
