I asked about a connection between MA and SC Severances about 2 years ago and have found a limited reference to their connection Mostly, there seems to be mounting talk that they were not connected. The key figure seems to be John Severance II born about 1676 and D 1723. This one was born in Suffolk Co., MA and died ? Some have placed his death in Christ Church Parish in Berkeley Co., SC. His Wife was Catherine, possibly Fairchild. There was supposedly a son John III who was born 1702 and married Ann Barton.
There is another John Severance or Saverance who was born in Europe?? about 1675, also married to a Catherine born in Europe and both emigrating to SC where he died in 1740. This John and Catherine group has a daughter named Sarah who was b 1700 and married a John White, but there is no mention of a son John or other children.
Has anyone out there found anything that proves or disproves they are the same person like land sales Catherine's maiden name, birth records that say Sarah and John III are brother and sister? Or are they different but coincidental names. If they are different, does anyone know about the Europe to Berkeley SC Severance line?
