I haveWilliam Henry Sevedge, son of William Madison Sevedge.William Henry Sevedge was born 20 Apr. 1849 in Benton Co., Arkansas. His mother was Martha J. Fairchild.William Madison Sevedge was the sixth child of William Sevedge, b. 1775, and Elizabeth Anne Wade, b. 27 Oct. 1787. William Sevedge and Elizabeth Anne Wade were married 28 May 1805.
I am the descendant William Madison's younger brother, Kenton Kind Sevedge.
The Internet research I have done suggests that the Wade family line goes back to Edward Wade, b. ca 1611, London, England. The Wade line includes Richard Wade Sr., a Revolutionary War veteran who fought with Daniel Boone.
Sevedge has been alternatively spelled Savage within the family.Researchers have not been able to take the family line back beyond William Savage/Sevedge, 1775; however, there is another family line which descends from Champness Sevedge whose dates are similar to William's.They may have been related. They may have been among the French Protestants who settle in the Carolinas ... Sevedge/Savage may have been Anglicized forms of the French surname Sauvage. All speculation of course.
