In my lineage is Benjamin Settles, present in Green Co in late 1700s, then 1801 he was in Westmoreland Co where he married Nancy Tupman. I believe Benjamin was born in Stafford Co VA. Nancy Tupman was d/o of Patsy Tupman and Capt John Tupman, Sea Capt in Rev War. He died @ sea, Benjamin & Nancy came into Green/Adair on the land patent which was awarded to Capt John Tupman. The Alsy Settles is mentioned in the
a little bio in Perrin's History of KY which I obtained on ILL. Nancy Tupman had 4 daughters in Green Co, Nanch died around 1818, I believe Benjamin Settles next marriage was to a Malinda Page in Adair, his final marriage was to the widow of David Smith. Settles left a large estate inventory in the Green Co Settlement Records micro
film, he died in 1837 or so, the settlement doesnt give exact date of death. Madeline
