I am not sure if this is any kind of connection, but...
My great grandmother was Julia Layton born and raised in Philadelphia. She had a sister Mary A. Layton (born 1869). Mary married Alexander Settle. According to census records, Alexander's father was English and his mother was Irish. Alexander was born in PA. They lived with the Layton family in Philadelphia in 1910 (census records). In 1920, Alexander and Mary still lived in Philadelphia and have a son George (b. 1893), a son Herbert (born 1907) and a son name Alexander, Jr (born 1903). In 1930 George Settle, Jr is married and living in Philadelphia. His wife is Elizabeth (born 1894). They have a son George, III (born 1917), a son Calvine (born 1911) and a son William (born 1927). I don't have any information after 1930. Mary (Layton) Settle's sister (my g-grandmother Julia) died tragically in a fire when my granfather was very young so we don't have many details about her or her family.
So, as I stated above, my g-grandmother Julia Layton (Mary Settle's sister) died in a fire sometime before 1920. Julia married my g-grandfather William Greenly had had two children (the infant that died with her) and my grandfather William. In 1920, my g-grandfather and grandfather (6 years old) are living as boarders with the Kent family in Philadelphia. The names on the census records for Kent are as follows:
Mary Kent (age 46)
Eugene Kent, son (age 17)
George Kent, son (age 25)
John Kent, son (age 20)
Marie Kent, daughter (age 19)
William Kent, son (age 15)
Edward Kent, son (age 9)
Perhaps the Kents' were friends of the Settle family (related to Layton by marriage) and they took in my great-grandfather when his wife died in a fire.
