Richard Sessions 3/25/07
Richard--Here goes. This is from Clinton Public______?
(that this all that is stated on the citation). It continues: DeWitt County, IllinoisFriday, Feburary 6, 1891
Ira Sessions came to this country from Ohio in 1849, and for forty-two years was a resident in the vicinity of Waynesville. He had reached the ripe age of eighty-eight years when death called him last Friday afternoon. He was father of E.D. Sessions, the postmaster in Waynesville, and for years made his home with his son.Ira Sessions was a native of Vermont, but moved with his parents to Ohio in 1813.His life was spent on a farm and he was successful in accumulating sufficient property to provide for his old age.
Richard--the above has errors. The notation on Ancestry.com below this obit stated: Ira and Mary???? lived at Waynesville, DeWitt, IL in 1860--obviously a reference to the census.
Ira did not move to Ohio in 1813 non did any Sessions so far as I can determine. He an Tirzah were in the Stowe, Vt on the census in 1830 and he appears first in Ohio in the 1840 census.Have fun!Sue
