to anyone that may be interested, the serra's first came from italy around the 1200's. pedro serra, originally from italy came to the baleares islands with king jaume I, the conqueror and aragones king. from there on this name was stablished in the balearic area. i read this at sephardim.com. also, says that the family shield is a carpentry saw, or sierra in its natural color in a red field. i hope this might be of help to someone.
