I am looking for information of Captain-General João da Serra, Fleet Commander of The Portuguese Royal Navy in the 1720's. He was appointed Governor of the Brazilian Province of Maranhão and died there on 20 march 1736. His grand-grand-child is Leonel Joaquim Serra, married with Rita Leopoldina, and there is a gap in my genealogy in the three generations between. Leonel lived in São Luis do Maranhão and is the father of the famous journalist and abolicionist Joaquim Serra, who is my grand-grand father. Any information about Leonel, João da Serra and others will be wellcomed.
