Greg ~
I am replying here becuase your email bounced. Do you have it written correctly
on this site?
In any case here it is.
Greg ~
I'd be happy to share information with you, if I knew who my gggg
grandfather Thomas b. 1773/74 , and his brother Samuel's b. 1769's father
was. All I know is they had a father that was probably called
Samuel...Samuel's real name "may have"George(I have never seen proof of
this anywhere though) but he went by Samuel(which happens a lot in my
Sargent family because of males getting named the same names as their
father's!) Supposedly the parent's wereSamuel b, 1740 who m. Bethany
Smallidge of Boston,( MA marriage Vitals 1630 -1800) as our Sargent's were
repeatedly toldwere from Boston. One book says the father was called
Samuel and another said it was James.(written by 2 people of this line, but
different branches) (Neither was positive of the father's name after
interviewing Thomas and Samuel's children of the third generation after
Samuel b. 1740)He apparently died by 1810 or earlier. This Samuel may be the
right one I think. I never found a James the right time and place. I am not
sure these were the parent's of the Samuel that married Bethany Smallidge's,
but they went to the same church and all appeared closely related, and a
Samuel of that church(who I think is the one who married Bethany at that
church had parent's that were Thomas Sargent and Elizabeth Thomson(Elizabeth
was from Provincetown, Barnstable Co the Church Records say, in a little
note she was dismissed fromchurch there.in 1743 and admitted to the New
north Church in Boston that year. (New North Church Records 1740-1800) A
professional researcher is about to do some major research on this family
for me. Ron Lahti(A Professional Researcher) thinks they descend from Rev
William of Malden, but we don't know how yet....No one seems to claim
these...at least I don't think. Believe me I have turned over ever Rock
there is...I have feverishly worked on this over 7 years now.
I have given up trying to find them myself and have hired a researcher that
thinks he can help. He says if they were in MA, he'' find them!! By 1800
Samuel b. 1769 was inSouth New Berlin, Chenango Co., NY. Thomas didn't
show up until 1810 living right next to him in S. New Berlin NY
Here is what I have, and this is only an assumption and it could be all
wrong....but we think this is how my gggg Thomas connects...

I am closely looking at this Samuel ...maybe Bethany's real name was
Elizabeth, as NEHGS did a lot of researching for me on connecting her too to
a family and they wouldn't refute or prove that she was a descendant of
William Smallidge and Ruth Brisco of Boston. They can not assign her to the
Smallidge family in Boston. at this time..then who's daughter is she if they
went to the new North Church? I say, her name was something different!
Unfortunately, I am only speculating...Sorry.
I have a CD on some of lines of The Rev William Sargeant of Malden and many
other sources. I'll look around for her....
Are you saying that the Samuel you are looking at was never married to a
Pratt? because I have seen that woman a lot.
In fact I have seen Pratts married to a lot of Sargeant's.
I'll be in touch if I find more, and I am sure I will....I love connecting
all these Sargent's!!!
